This project has been a labour of love for me over the last year or so and I have named this album, Bucket List for obvious reasons – It has been a dream to record my own CD of original music before I die. And it couldn’t just be a digital album; it had to be a compact disc (yes, I am old school) - something to put on a shelf just so I can pull it off and hold it in my hand when I am 85 and sentimental. This has been an itch to scratch ever since I wrote my first song back in 2002 or so. The closer that I have gotten to realizing this dream, the itchier I have become and I really hope that this CD is the cure! If not, maybe I need to go to the doctor for a topical cream. But seriously, the older I get, the stronger the impulse becomes to experience and accomplish new, cool things. Now that I have this album, I expect that the next Bucket List item will have me scratching in no time. Maybe I’ll need to play Red Rocks, the Saddledome, Madison Square Garden, or go on residency in Vegas - where old rock stars go to die - and watch the fountains. More likely, my realistic expectations will make the next itch a little less grandiose but still just as cool - write another album; play the Ironwood, Boulder Theatre or the Troubadour; take up scuba diving; move to Costa Rica; or travel around the world with Sam following our boys around the world watching soccer and hockey. Whatever is next, life is short and I don’t want to grow old and see it has passed me by without at least knowing that I tried. I want to fill that bucket up before I kick it.
